| | macro filter? i was just thinking, at the moment, my camera can focus to about 15cm away, at 100mm zoom in macro... if i bought a good +4 would it let me focus closer at around 100mm focal length?
or ,if it would, would the extra layer of glass decrease the photo quality to much for it to be worth bothering? |

| | Re: macro filter? Check out wikipedia for achromatic. These are lenses that usually comprise 2 cemented elements of differing glass (usually 'crown' and 'flint') that cancel out chromatic aberration (colour fringing).

| | Re: macro filter? Hi Jim, Sigma do one for the 70-300mm APO lens and gives a 1:1 macro feature.
I think what Squishy means are those set of 4 or 5 lens filters marked +2, +3 +4, +5 and even +10, I tried a set a long time ago and they are absolute rubbish, autofocus goes out the window and it's virtually impossible to focus manually. I reckon the +10 may be good for starting a fire on a sunny day but that's about it.

| | Re: macro filter? erm... there is a canon filter that comes in the right size, the 250D, do you think that would help me focus closer at about 100mm? |

| | Re: macro filter? Squishy you have a Fuji s9600 right? You can attach the Raynox close up lenses, the DCR 250 and MSN 200 work well I think. I have just bought this set up as a present for someone and having a quick go with the MSN 200 it seems really good for the money! see here Raynox conversion lens and accessories
Cheers
