TCs with Sigma 105 1:2.8 DG Macro?

Hello,

I have a 105 Sigma macro lens and find that I can get great images with relatively static creatures that are easy to get close to (spiders, woodlice etc) but that using it for more flightly creatures (dragon and damselflies) I could do with a TC that allows me to be further away as I have perfected my sneaking up on them technique! So, if any of you are using this lens what do you recommend? Also, if I use a TC will I still be able to use the ring flash?

Put on a 200 or 300 telephoto lens plus extention tubes, you will be able to fill the frame keep your distance and use flash

I dont have the sigma but use a tamron 90 f2.8 macro and have recently started using it with a cheap Jessops 2x converter and was quite pleased with the results. The fly I posted here was shot using this setup - unidentified fly - Wild About Britain Pics

I would imagine it would work as well with the sigma as it is f 2.8 as well

I've used the 105 with a 1.4TC and ring flash. The combination works well and gives a bit more working room. Here's an example shot.
