| | | Sigma 150-500mm Hi anyone here got this lens yet,
I'm thinking of getting it, I've got a long service award from work coming in a few weeks which will be almost enough to get it so I'm tempted
I've seen varying reports on the net which is usual I guess.
It looks like it could be an amazing lens, handheld shots at 500mm possible at a speed of 100 according to one report. Just have to see if its sharp wide open at 500mm if it is I will be first in the queue

| | | Re: Sigma 150-500mm Never used the lens and I don't own it but I would think about the 50-500mm. I don't know if it's more expensive by a long way but I know it has the recommendations of plenty of users from this forum.
Just a thought.

| | | Re: Sigma 150-500mm From what I've read from buyers so far I'd be cautious.
Problems with AF and the OS, taking often up to 2 seconds to work! I'd find that really annoying. There's also some problems with 40D's with the OS, Sigma has already had to issue a firmware update for some units. Some have said it's sharp, others it's soft...They're probably all right. Sigma are notorious for sample variations.
I'd say wait a few months if you can, see if these problems are sorted. There are a few sites on the web with sample images. Some I've seen are terrible, others are fine. I'm always cautious of bad images without knowing how the shots were taken. Just do a Google search or go to Fredmiranda.com, there's plenty of samples there. |

| | | Re: Sigma 150-500mm Have been waiting for the reviews on this lens since its launch back in January. From what I have read and looking at available sample images I think I will stick with the 100-400mm for the time being.
As Graham has already advised I would be very cautious about buying this lens at this time, better to wait a few more months and see what the reviews say about it after a few more get into circulation.

| | | Re: Sigma 150-500mm Thanks guys
It does sound like a good idea to wait especially if its got problems working with the 40D
We do have the 100-400, its Lorraines, the wifes but I borrow it
Cheers
