white led portable light needed?

hey

i really need some help, does anyone know of a torch that is white light, and that last longer than 30mins(done some research). i need a large torch not a tiny maglight though.

so i guess

something bright
portable
white light (led)

i want to be able to do some night photography, but i want to add artificial light to illuminate the landscape.

any ideas???

got a tent ligt from millets.. is about 6 x 4 inces,, has 24 small leds wich have two brightness settings.. has a big handle and best of all is wind up so no batterys.... hope this helps.. james

To my eyes all LEDs have a bluish tinge - you may need to do
some experimenting with white light balance.

Hi,

We bought two 8 LED torches last year and yes they're blue,but lit up the far end of a hanger at 40yds, a 3 cell mag put a spot on the wall whereas the LED lit the whole wall up, the batteries 4 x AA have lasted a year with approx. an hours use per winter/dark night, I'm sure if you google around you'll find white LED torches, I've got one on a keyring.

I made a light using LED's mounted in a CD disc the plan/site where I found it was posted on this site somewhere

hey, it doesn't matter if it has a slight blue tinge, aslong as it's not tungsten.
i think i'll have a look at some led torches, i just don't know if they'll cover enough area but i will get one and try. thanks for your help.

May sound unusual, but a good place to look would be your local cycle shop.
My Cat Eye white LED is pretty bright & costs £17. But a good cycle shop will have a whole range of powerful portable LED torches (albeit meant for attachment to a cycle handlebar). ChainReaction have a good range.

For example... "The Ozone 21NE features a 4W Super White LED with a 5750K rating providing superior light and burn times. This light can be used as a handlebar or helmet mounted light with the included universal mounts. Requires 2 x CR 123 batteries for operation ( included ) and provides a burn time of 3 hours." (£45)

For good ones, prices start at about £25.

hey,

i forgot i do own an led bike light, but it is very small.

i've bought 4 solar panel lights, with 3 led's in, and also a wind up torch with 5 led's hopefully this will do the job, if not i'll b off to the cycle shop.
