Sigma 70-300mm Macro and extension tubes

Hi
I'm just getting into some macro photography and have a Sigma 70-300mm
f4.0/5.6 APO DG Macro HSM lens I use on my Nikon D50 but if I added a Kenko
extension tude to reduce the focal length would I stiil retain auto focus ?
Any thoughts ?

Hi

no you wont still have autofocus but then manual focus is far better for macro work anyway, and remember to use a tripod to cut vibrations.

Barry,

I have (had) that exact same setup. The autofocus will not work and actually on mine when manually focusing it actually felt a little "gritty" which is weird. It did still work perfectly well though.

One point, already made by wildlifesnapper - on this lense the macro option is at the far end of the zoom range so make sure you have the setup very steady / push your shutter speed up to compensate.
