Buy it brand new from DigitalRev for £599 + £51pp. They will refund the VAT, should it be charged.
Use it for the 2 weeks.
Sell it on the well know auction site. The last 2nd-hand one to sell on there went for £626 and was without the original box, instructions and did not have almost a year's Canon warranty left on it.
I'd be very confident of losing no more than £50 (probably a lot less) and if the purchase/sell-on was well timed I'd receive the money before the credit card bill for the original purchase |

Hi Billy
For the cost of hiring I really don't think it's worth going to all that time and effort to buy and then re-sell.
The cost to hire the 400mm lens for example is £44 per week including VAT and insurance.
When you consider that to buy this lens is around £700, then the rental price doesn't seem too bad to me. |
