| | | Fuji Finepix macro settings I have a Fuji Finepix digital camera s6500 fd with fixed lens zoom 28 to 300mm it has a maco and super macro setting but I am confused. can I rack it out at 135mm or less and photo macro then or in super macro should I rack to 28mm. The only problem with the super macro at 28mm is that the camera focuses on backround subjects cos often I use the super macro facility for tiny flowers or insects.
Perhaps I should get close up filters.
any ideas please folks?
it's doing my head in!

| | | Re: Fuji Finepix macro settings I have panasonic camera which is similar but there maybe some differences. On mine in the settings I put the Auto focus (AF) mode on the smallest square as this will concerntrate 6then focus on the middle, and hopefully what Im pointing at.
If you interested in macro I started a thread this morning on the Raynox DCR-150 adaptor lens here: http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...d-without.html |

| | | Re: Fuji Finepix macro settings Hi i have a fuji s5600 finepix (i think its the model before yours)
I have tried to get the maco to work but unfortunatly like you have dicovered the camera keeps focusing on the background, I have not worked out how to prevent this.
The only way i can get around it is to use the apature priority mode to force a narrow apature so it is forced to focus on something closer. It works some times but it is a lot of hassle. However its landscape photos it gives are unrivalled, my dad with a cannon slr struggles to get the same detail
tell me if you find a way to sort out the macro problem
Cheers

| | | Re: Fuji Finepix macro settings I have the FF S5700, it too has Macro & Super Macro modes ... what I have found is ... the camera doesn't actually have a 'macro lens'
Sorry, It's learning how to use the camera ... you need to try and get the subject in full frame in macro mode and or use the zoom. I find with Super Macro you need to be right on top of the subject, ie., pretty damn close and zoom is disabled in SM on my 5700 ... Aperture Priority does help to some extent, especially with maintaining some depth-of-field. Dia, these cameras don't have manual focus, if they do, it's well hidden on my 5700, one reason I'm getting a DSLR.
I have some excellent macro shots taken with my FF ... just ask and I'll post some.

| | | Re: Fuji Finepix macro settings I have the finepix S9600. Its just as muckshifter said with mine. I get really close with the camera on the macro setting and zoom in and out until the focus is clear and not blurred. In auto mode take lots as some do come out blurred..Then put the camera on the movement setting and take some in this mode. And hope for the best..Take a look in my archive these are what I have a taken since Xmas. |

| | | Re: Fuji Finepix macro settings manual fcus takes ages on my camera as you have to use the up and down button to get it in foucus, and you have no idea where you are in terms of its focus. I've given up witht he manual focus on my camera its too much hassle, i just keep auto fcousing and altering the apatrure until it decides to focus.

| | | Re: Fuji Finepix macro settings I've got the S6500 fd and find the macro option to be pretty good. I do find that it works better in manual mode at f2.8 if you want the subject in focus and the background blurred. Increase the f-stop if you want the background in focus too.
I've used the macro on a zoom setting and it's been ok, but the supermacro doesn't appear to like being on zoom.
The manual focus is a little more confusing but it does work.. and I found another option which allows you to see the bit you are focussing on at a larger size in the viewfinder/lcd screen. It's called Focus Check and the ECF/LCD mode must be set to 30 fps in the setup menu. Further details on page 128 of the user manual. |
