| |  help with lenses
can anyone give me some advice on lenses for my nikon d40x i ve been told i cant get teleconverter for it so i am lookin for some guidense on lenses so that i can take pictures of birds every time i look at nikkor lenses i d need to remorgate my house and i cant seem to find any second hand ones i have a budget of about £500 |

Try the sigma 50-500mm apo dg  lens or the 170-500mm, as i understand it the sensor size on your nikon is 1.5, so this is magnifying the focal length of any lens used by this amount so a 500mm lens becomes a 750mm equivelent..
I think the 170-500mm sigma should fall in your price range, happy snappin'

Like wildman says try the Sigma 150-500mm lens I got one from that well known sight for a very reasonable price and pick it up tomorrow for my canon that was the problem I found with this camera but the lens are there if you look best of luck
