but in this context its the nick name of the canon 100-400 IS lens - so called because the zoom action is done by sliding it in and out like a bike pump rather than by turning a wheel as is common on most other zoom lenses.

| | | Re: What's a Pump thats true - tho graham uses a bigma while i have a li'l bigma (sigma 50-500 and 170-500 respectively). I might change to the pump but i'm waiting to see how the sigma 150-500 OS gets reviewed first

I have the pump and use it with a 1.4tc but find not having the AF is a bit of a pain and the image sharpness is just not up scratch with the Canon 1.4tc added. If the images are sharp at the 500mm end then I will be tempted. The 4 stop OS will be a great help when shooting from a boat off the Pembrokeshire coast later this year.
