| | | Canon 100-400 zoom getting too loose I've had my 'pump' for around 5 months, and recently the zoom adjustment ring has started to get loose, to the stage where unless its fully on tight the lens pretty much is in free fall. And even on 'tight' it doesn't take much to move it.
I can't see any obvious way to adjust it (all the screws on the ring look firm enough), so I'm probably need to take it in for repair (under guarantee). Just wondering whether anyone else has had this problem? |

| | | Re: Canon 100-400 zoom getting too loose I haven't had that happen to mine and I have had mine for 14 months now. It may be a fault of your lens and if you only bought it 5 months ago then it will still be under guarantee.
I would give Canon a call and see what they think. They will advise you if there is anything wrong and what you can do about it.

| | | Re: Canon 100-400 zoom getting too loose Cheers John. Probably something worth doing sooner than later, though it'll be painful to be without it whenever I take it in. Will give the shop a ring and see how long they reckon it will take. |

I have a name of a certified repair firm if you require it - I have used them a couple of times and can recommend them.

| | | Re: Canon 100-400 zoom getting too loose I have a 100-400mm and I gave it to a Canon service centre to be looked at. They stripped it down cleaned it and recalibrated it on warrantee. The customer service was superb and the lens is crisper now than it was when I bought it. No focussing ring problem but I absolutely recommend their own service centres.
