| | | Re: Canon second camera body which ?? I bought my 30D from them and, again, you wouldn't have known it wasn't brand new. New box, all packaged up etc.
BUT, since I bought it I have heard of several people who had less positive experiences. Basically, if there are any complications their customer service seems to be very poor. Also, some of the cameras do not appear brand new and show obvious signs of wear and tear.
Having heard some of these stories I think I'd be slightly wary of buying from them again even though my experience was very positive. It seems to be a bit of a gamble.

| | | Re: Canon second camera body which ?? Fair enough. The term 'refurbished' as they describe it can be a number of things (ex-demo, returned and repaired, opened in store/ at home and unused then returned, etc) so I guess you've got to get lucky I just figured I'd like to think I was buying from a reputable source (Canon!) rather than some random person. Fingers crossed I don't have any need to deal with their customer support then... |

To be honest I don't quite know what their relationship with Canon is, but they call themselves 'Digital River'. I think they simply have an agreement to sell on refurbed Canon gear. That said, I agree that even having an affiliation with Canon should suggest they're not complete cowboys.

| | | Re: Canon second camera body which ?? It has put me off from bidding, although I suppose you've got to look at the whole picture. They've over 27,000 positive feedback, against 400 odd negative. That's 98%+ positive. The one worry is virtually all the negatives say the same thing, you can't get hold of them and/or they take too long to refund or put things right.
I've just sent them a question on one of their sales, asking why so many customers can't contact them or get their problems sorted quickly..I wonder if they'll respond? |

| | | Re: Canon second camera body which ?? Actually, now I think about it when I bought the camera my PC had an issue in reaching my wireless router and I lost the connection right at the end of the payment process. I e-mailed them to ask if it had gone through or whether I needed to do it all again (obviously not wanting to pay twice!). They sent me a reply pretty quick - can't remember exact timing but I don't recall thinking they were taking ages. Also, with both purchases I have had regular e-mails to say the shipment was being processed, then shipped, etc. They also have a tracking system that allows you to see where your purchase is. I definitely must have been one of the lucky ones! |

Matt | Yeah, they do mention Digital River but do plaster Canon Outlet all over the place and sell with Canon seals and warranty so you'd like to think they are Canon authorised somewhere. When you look at an item it is all Canon marketed. Don't know how the relationship works either Especially, as aforementioned DR is based in Ireland yet my lens location was Northants if I recall correctly |

| | | Re: Canon second camera body which ?? Well I settled and shelled out for a new 40D. I brought it from a UK camera supplier the same one as I brought my lens. Got it delivered at almost an auction site price after a bit of arm twisting. I have had it a fornight now and its still in the box. I will not get it out till I have finished my chores or I will never get them done.

zan | Its a nice Camera in the hand and has a feel of quality and has quite a few more features. I am looking forward to trying it But I have to say I can not complain with the 400D its been kind to me and is capable of good photograpy.
Regards
