| | | Nikon D70s It seems most of you DSLR users on this forum use Canon - 20d etc. But have any of you had experience of the Nikon D70s. I need to update this year and since I already own a few Nikon lenses, the best idea seems to stick with Nikon, especially as I can't afford the D200 or a complete Canon outfit. Any advice, would be much appreciated. |

| | | Re: Nikon D70s The D70S fits my hands is reassuringly solid takes beautiful images, all in all it performs very well the kit lense is a cracker (although I did consider the sigma 28-200 as an all purpose job) and I teamed it up with a sigma 70-300
Being over 21 and used to 35mm slr I think I was a bit(ok a lot)up tight at first
but having used the minolta D50 and the 350 and 100 canons I just let the quality feel seduce me

| | | Re: Nikon D70s Alan - I was in a similar situation to yourself, having used Nikon 35mm SLR's for years I had some good Nikon fit lenses so the D70s was my target DSLR when it came to upgrading, that was until I tried the Canon EOS 20D!
To be honest for just a few more more quid the Canon is a far better option, its built beautifully, handles like a dream, plus there's just far more technology for the money, and with being a semi-pro spec model it's not a camera that you will out-grow.
Ok, there's still the lens issue, but you have to remember that in all probability they are not DX optimised lenses anyway, most of mine weren't, and as I still have my Nikon f80 to use them with I figured that it was time for a complete change, and looking back on it now I'm so glad I made that choice.
I hope this serves to help you and doesn't confuse the issue too much!! |

| | | Re: Nikon D70s The slightly older version, the Nikon D70, was my first DSLR purchase. I am still not sure what you get for the "s"!
I am extremely pleased with this camera but then I have nothing to directly compare it with.
I currently pair it with a Sigma 80-400mm lens and also my Nikon scope via the Nikon attachment .... details on my website.
Some of the results can be seen in the WAB Gallery and again on my website.
I am not sure how much this helps and I recall that when I was considering my options, there were definite Nikon loyalists and definite Canon loyalists which all makes things very confusing.
Whatever you choose, I wish you luck .... just make sure we see the results in the Gallery!

I could do with a new lens for my 20D, do you think your local securicor depot would have enough for your camera and my lens if I come with you.
