Nikon D80 Err message - Friday 13th!

Hello all

I knew I should have stayed in today

Had a brilliant day foraying with over 25 different species. When I got home I decided to take some more close up images ... A No No My New D80 decided to throw a wobbly and greet me with the Err message

To make matters worse, I sold my trusty Olympus C8080 to my brother only a week ago

I have heard of similar problems with the D70 but as anyone experienced this with the D80?

I have tried leaving the battery out for a while, replacing with fully charged, resetting etc but no joy

I suppose I could buy my some film for my Nikon FM

Ouch, sorry to hear that John, a photographers worst nightmare I suppose!

Hi John

Have you tried changing the memory card (assuming you have a spare one that is )

Les (Nettle Runner) has a D80 and he had an error message and it turned out to be a memory card problem. Once it was replaced it worked fine so it is probably worth a try, although I am probably barking up the wrong tree as I'm sure you have already thought of that.

Tried that too Dave ... used all my cards Someone on the web suggests leaving the battery out overnight ... but I keep trying it after 5, 10, 30 minutes I'm definately leaving it now ... my wifes taken it from me Thanks anyway Say hello to Clumber for me ... I'll ring warehouse express tomorrow.

Hi John,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I've had the occassional error message on my D70 but it's always been fixed (so far, touch wood) by ejecting and re-inserting the memory card. I'll be sleeping with my fingers crossed for you tonight.

She does right leave it till morning although I am equally as bad at not leaving things like that long enough

I see you've been in our nick of the woods recently finding fungi near Thorpe Salvin

It's a great place Dave. Old spring wood is excellent right now. check out the strange one I found today. I'm there Sunday as well with Neil who is leading the Sorby fungi foray. No morels there yet though
