New camera - not so new problem

Have just put my old panasonic FZ3 to one side and bought Nikon D40 with various bells and whistles

But have experienced what appears an age old problem - photoshop elements4 won't read RAW files - apparently there is a plug in to solve this problem, can anybody help?

Image editors such as pse4 were never meant to read raw files - although PS2 and lightroom both can.

In fact the whole point of using raw is to use a raw browser/converter such as raw shooter essentials, capture one, etc to process the files before you do anything with a photoediting programme.

PSE4 will read RAW files, but I think you just need to make sure the Camera RAW plug-in is up-to-date. See the link below which specifically mentions the D40.

All I've got to do now is learn how to take a half decent photo and then edit it
