| | | PS Elements 4 help Hi all
This might take a bit of explaining but I will do my best. I use PS Element 4 for editing my photographs. When I crop or resize an image using the image resize from the menu I can't see a way to resize the image to the exact pixel size I want it. I get round this because my images straight from the camera measure 3888 x 2592 pixels If I want to resize an image for posting to WAB at 880 pixels on the longest side I know that I need to put the % image size to 62.63%. There are various measurement options that can be used such as cm, %, inches, picas, points, and columns. Nowhere can I find an option to resize to a set pixel size
This is fine if I use the photo ratio option when cropping or if I don't crop at all because I know what pecentage I need to type in to achieve the desired size for WAB or for my own website.
The problem is when I don't use the photo ratio I have to guess what % I need the photo size to be and if I get it wrong I have to use the undo option and try a different % until I get it right.
I am probably being incredidbly stupid and missing something very obvious here. I have looked in the preferences and everywhere else but still can't find a way of acheiving the size I want in pixels without a lot of messing about. I might add that I am a relative novice with PS Elements.
Thanks

| | | Re: PS Elements 4 help when you select image - resize you should be prsented with a grey box called image size with the top bit being pixel dimensions
if this is greyed out tick the resample image box at the bottom
then just enter the pixel dimensions you desire and click okay
job done

| | | Re: PS Elements 4 help Hi Roger,
Are you confusing cropping with resizing? You should crop your image to get the composition as you want it and then resize it so that the resolution is appropriate for WAB.
So, once you've cropped it (or not if you're leaving it full frame) you should click Image>Resize>Image Size so that the box opens. Then under the heading 'pixel width' you want to change the width to 880 pixels. Note that if it won't let you enter a new width then make sure the 'resample image' box is checked.
I hope that helps. It's possible I've misinterpreted what you were asking.
best wishes

job done | Thanks Pete, I had noticed the top pixel dimension was greyed out and did tick the resample image box. I then read the help file on resampling and thought that sounds a bit complicated and not really what I need so didn't bother with it anymore.
Thanks a lot

Matt | Thanks as well Matt, you have said the same as Pete. Should make life a little easier now.

I recall Dai the Dragon has a website and in there he shows how to set up a size of 800x600 (or any size for that matter) as a crop
