| | | Re: snow bunting for critique Good to see one off the ground, and a good shot to boot. Nicely exposed with excellent detail. As for any comments re composition, I'm just about the last person who should give advice there! |

| | | Re: snow bunting for critique Possibly the bird is a little too central. Maybe a slight crop from the right side and top might be worth trying.
But this only refers to getting the artistic composition absolutely perfect. The bird itself is an excellent shot. |

| | | Re: snow bunting for critique I agree with the comments above - it's an excellent shot. I had the same initial thoughts as Geoff about the composition, but it's actually very difficult to improve on what you've got so I'd leave it as it is.
I particularly like the detail in the fence, especially the line of twists towards the bottom of the picture, so I certainly wouldn't crop any of that out. |

| | | Re: snow bunting for critique a photograph judge would refer to this as a record shot which is fine if that's what you wanted as there is nothing you could do to improve the shot where the bird is situated, the exposure is excellent with detail in the lightest areas on the wing despite shooting against a bland sky, fill in flash I wonder ?
I wish I had been into digital back in my birding days I certainly would have been pleased with this shot as a reminder

| | | Re: snow bunting for critique thanks for your replies and thoughts on the photo
no flash was used and the sun was to my left the background is a large white building unfortunately there was no real way of getting the building out of the shot
i will keep in mind about not cropping the subject central it's a habit i have which i find hard to break
thanks again for taking the time to reply
