About a week ago my Sigma 170-500 lens started catching and getting stiff when I was zooming in and out. Yesterday it jammed up totally and I cant retract it back past around the 300 mark. Does any one know what has happened and if it is possible to fix it? Ive tried googling, but found nothing. Appreciate any help on this thanks.

Sounds similar to a problem I had with my 18-70mm zoom. It was the "zoom cam" that was the problem and it had to be replaced. It wasn't cheap but wasn't as expensive as a new lens.

It could also be the lock switch on the side of the lens, its been well known as a problem on the Bigmas, I never use it just in case! |

It fell off and the zoom locked solid. The repair wasn't too expensive though as Sigma did it for free, even though it was technically out of warranty. | | |
