does this mean that armageddon has arrived - that might explain the Pale rider I saw on my way home tonight

I'll leave this thread now. I believe the usual suspects have gone sufficiently red faced with rage because someone dared to contradict them. Might be an idea to ban me too, just in case I do the same again.... |

Eeyore and Boddie you look like a pair of bullies and a look through some older threads bear this out. Clearly while people like you are around this is not a good site to be on.

Boddie is passionate about his Canon kit, which is entirely fair enough, and no more so than you were Amber towards your KM kit.
It is rather confusing though Amber that were so defensive of a camera (the Sony Alpha) that you've never actually used and despite admiting that you don't like using its earlier version, the KM5D.
I can only reiterate my earlier points - consumer DLSRs are much of a muchness, pick the lens you want and find the body that fits it.

is the UNCERTAINTY of the success of the Sony Alpha it is not
an established DSLR brand just a tweak of the defunct Minolta
(yes Minolta had good glass, owned one myself)
Stick with the brand leaders

| | | Re: New DSLR why would i be worried by contradiction , i am a canon man as are most of the pros ,so i chose this because they do . i have had pentax film before and it worked .i am not convinced that autodust removers will always work when its vibrated off or de-sensatised or whatever ,where does it go? . i like to clean mine away. i would also comment that there are snaps, pictures, and good pro quality shots we are all capable of producing any or all whatever kit we have .the fact is you cant take wow pictures if you are not in the right place at the right time .so buy whatever feels right for you but beware if you buy cheap you often buy twice . so i would buy the best body i could afford (with a sh lens) and practice until i was very comfortable and then buy the lens that moves me to the next level . at some point you will find the financial investment level that matches your interest and ability

Matt | Its not confusing to me Matt. I can see exactly what Amber is trying to do - Boddies had a good weekend, has met yet more people that have good words to say for him so lets orchestrate a bit of a kicking as he has expressed an opinion on kit he owns. Seems fair enough

Goodbye from
Mrs M | you are of course entitled to your opinion mrs M - as I am to mine , I am passionately interested in photography and indeed derive a second income from it - i am sorry that you do not find my contribution useful but i would suspect that many people I have helped out might feel differently. I would suggest that before passing judgement and making an unwarranted and insulting attack on my character you actually review all the threads in which I have been involved rather than just a couple (which I, maybe cynically, feel have been pointed out to you by those keen to show me in a bad light) you could start with this one which is pretty representative photographing birds in flight - advice sheet
I have helped hundreds if not thousands of new photographers since joining wab (and not all canon users either) and am available to them by phone , email , and pm - this being the case I am extremely hurt by your accusation - the only comfort being that most members here know that nothing is further from the truth
I suggested three times that we agree to disagree on the alpha vs canon debate but this was continued regardless , suggesting to me that a certain mem,ber might be more interested in the debate as a contest rather than any factually based discussion. Quote: |

| | | Re: New DSLR I've read through these posts again, and I do wonder what the fuss has been about. Eeeyore in particular has come in for some very unfair criticism, so far as I read it he's offered a reasonable and balanced view of the subject, eventually offering to agree to disagree and move on at least twice.
Boddie is quite entitled to state his opinion on any subject, and when have anyone else been stopped from stating theirs? Certainly not Amber.
Ambers posts were argumentative and I do wonder if they were posted for the very reason to raise the response they got, because up until Ambers first post, matt_xyz and myself had gone out of our way to offer unbiased views, therefore I think there's more to some of those posts than meets the eye.
I do wonder why we're not allowed to have an adult discussion on any subject without having to defend our positions against wild accusations of bullying, or such crass comments from Amber as: Quote: |
I believe the usual suspects have gone sufficiently red faced with rage because someone dared to contradict them.....
