| | | Re: Advice on what camera Panasonic FZ50. Or the FZ30 if you can find it. You won't find a better handling none DSLR. You can always expand it with add on macro/wide angle or telephoto lenses later for not too much extra money.
If you want to see what it can do, have a look as matt_xyz earlier Gallery, they are almost all done with the FZ30.

| | | Re: Advice on what camera Hi Matt,
I have a "toy" Nikon Coolpix L3 which does the job with all the closer beasties. (see private email)
I'm sure that there are a heap of other compacts that will get the ball rolling?
The other thing is to keep your eye on ebay for a used camera of your choice.

| | | Re: Advice on what camera He's got access to all my gear apart from the 20D and 150 macro( nobody touches that but me!! ) and he still wants his own camera!
I don't mind, he's potentially a good photographer, with a keen eye for detail and a great interest in what he sees, plus its fantastic to have one of your kids share an interest with you.
But you can guess who's going to end up paying for it |

| | | Re: Advice on what camera I LOVE my FZ30!!
My pics are not as good a Matts but I'm working on it!
I like it because it's not too heavy, it's pretty rugged (survived a fall to the hide floor last week!).
It is rather noisy above 100ISO but it's rare that I'd need to go there!!
Plus it's not to expensive and compares well with many DSLR with regard to Macro shots (particularly Matt's macro shots!) One day I might might go DSLR but I need smeone to help me pay my mortgage first!! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
