the first is a cracker.......but the feeder spoils it a little.
The last shot is spot on, great image.
Second image is almost there, just a little soft, and the third one the exposure on the wings is great, its nice and sharp but the birds eye is dark.
This is my honest opinion Murray.

there is a bit of noise in some as i was trying to keep the shutter speed to 4000,
i could of got away with lowering the iso as the sun was being generous for a change,
i usually focus on the perch stand(and normaly try not to get it in shot) manually and leave it there and hope that anything that flies in from the right hand side is in focus hoping i am going to be lucky, the one where his feet are on the other sparrow i did think of cloning out the left hand side and then gave up as i would not of been able to keep the left hand side bird,
and i am more than happy with any critique good or bad as it is the only way i will learn and i am very grateful Clive cheers,
Regards Murray

| | | Re: Another go at B.I.F(male and female sparrows) This is a good set - shot 3 is let down by that head in shadow as has been mentioned.
No2 get my vote closely followed by No1 for the comedy value
The only thing that lets down No2 and 4 is the actual position of the wings. we expect to see birds in flight - in flight - i.e. with wings spread.
1/4000 - I think you can halve that and still get sharp shots.
Good stuff

and thank you Oy
the usual suspects were coming into the garden while i was waiting for the goldfinches and there was only so many dunnock and sparrow perched shots i could take, so i decided to have a go at the sparrows in flight using predictor focus(setting to manual and hoping they fly into the focused area)
i will take your advice on board with the shutter speed which will also help bring the iso down, and yes no2 and 4 i cant really class them as BIF hovering maybe as they were waiting to go onto the feeder and some were impatient as you can see in the first image.
thank you very much for your advice Oy always appreciated
