im very much a beginner so i cant give any technical advice sorry,
they certainly have the cute factor, no2 i like especially as youve managed to isolate the subject from the background which has helped the cute little fellow to stand out, sorry i cant be more helpful.

| | | Re: Comments please Get the eyes in focus. They're typically the main focus of attention and if sharp will usually mean you've snapped a decent image.
I'd say the first shot is a bit dark (easily corrected through typical PC editing) but I like the busy nature of the shot with all the young filling the frame and background, and I'd maybe add a light spot in the main bird's eye, just to make it stand out.
Second shot I'd have preferred the whole bird in the frame rather than just the upper half and you seem to have focussed a little more on the forehead rather than the eyes, although it's actually not too bad when you open the image up in it's larger format. Also, I'd try and tidy up the background a little with a bit of blur editing to emphasize the subject even more despite mangaing to get the background out of focus
Hope that helps, it's only my two penneth so what it actually means is debatable lol. Good luck with the next lot and I will look forward to seeing them posted up here again

| | | Re: Comments please I like these pics - they both possess that important "attention grabbing" quality that I'm guessing you were striving for - they are obviously not your typical guide book photos.
I would however recommend cropping the second pic to ~3x4 portrait (try masking the screen image with your fingers and see what you think). This removes a lot of "empty" background and concentrates the viewer's attention on that very cute bird. While cropping to portrait I would remove about half the "sky" and chop a generous chunk off the body (r side as you look at pic).
Just my opinion of course - artistic presentation is always somewhat of a subjective matter .
