| | | comments invited please Hi All
I am posting this pic here and on the wildflower forum for your comments, I assume the photography experts will be here.
I am just changing from landscapes to close ups, i think i've got it right now, but any constructive criticism is welcomed or any comments.
Thanks in advance |

| | | Re: comments invited please I think its a pleasant enough photo and lovely colours. From an technical point of view I think it looks like it was maybe taken in overcast conditions and in turn it looks a little flat, although I have to say I do think its a nice soft looking photo. I would of perhaps waited for a break in the clouds and a little sun light to seep through or may be even added a little fill in light from a flash but I know little in that area.
The only other point to mention for me is that even with the shallow depth of field and the distant background being blurred, the top left horizontal lines and the top right vertical line are a bit distracting. Its easy to miss these details when they aren't part of the main focus so just have a good look around the frame and see if anything catches your eye.

| | | Re: comments invited please I do a lot of macro stuff and I know just how hard it is. Personally the grass (bottom right) and the blade (centre to top right) detract from the effect. It is so easy to miss these distractions when you're mind and eye is focussing on the main subject. I now carry a multiknife and prune out these distractions litterally. However still a pleasant picture.
regards tn.

| | | Re: comments invited please But some flowers, like bluebells, can be difficult to photograph in bright sun. False colours and harsh shadows can result.
That area of the top part of the background is certainly distracting as well as that grass blade, as the previous answers pointed out.
But apart from those technical issues, I think this photo has worked well although, if possible, I would like to reshoot from a better angle to overcome the previous points. |

| | Re: comments invited please Thanks for your comments, all taken on board and on reflection can certainly agree with the distractions noted.
I will certainly learn a lot from this photograph and hopefully take another step forward.
Thanks again

I think it is a tad underexposed. I would maybe try and get in a bit closer at the expense of some of the other flowers - less is more maybe? |

| | | Re: comments invited please I too, would like to have seen a touch of fill-in flash. Also, like others, I find the blured buildings and upright distractions a bit off putting. Pleasent enough shot though - Wizzo

| | | Re: comments invited please Thanks again for the comments, I could not get any closer as i have no macro lens and the shutter would not work any closer.
Looks like I will have to invest in a macro, but funds wont stretch at the moment.
I have learnt a lot from your comments and feel a bit more confident now, guess I will trust myself on my first field trip
Thanks again |

| | | Re: comments invited please Just seen this!
Not bad. Some settings info would be handy, to help advise.
Looks as though you could have used a smaller aperture.
That would have given a sharper image of all the flowers!
