| | | Diving beetle cropped or uncropped Cant decide which is better:
'Uncropped' showing water surface (which has itself been cropped to portrait)
tighter cropped
What do you folks reckon? |

| | | Re: Diving beetle cropped or uncropped I like the first one best. I quite like photos that show the water surface as it re-inforces the fact that it is underwater. This is not always very obvious.

| | | Re: Diving beetle cropped or uncropped Great photos,do you have any more Pond life photos ? I like the second one better, but if I did not know what it was,the one that shows the water line would help explain it`s environment better. If you can give me any tips on set up and kit used on how to go about getting such images I would be very greatfull.I am glad you showed us these. |

| | | Re: Diving beetle cropped or uncropped Hi Meadsman,
Neil has some fabulous pond life shots - have a look in his Gallery: Ukwildlifeo Gallery - Wildlife Photography
As for tips on kit and techniques, take a look at this thread: Wat Tyler pond life
It includes some details about the set-ups that Neil and I use and also some good info on ensuring the welfare of the pond life too.

| | | Re: Diving beetle cropped or uncropped I like the second one - but as others have said its ok cos I know what and where it is - for those viewing who may not know then the water surface showing as well aids the thought processes! Some smashing images recently from you both btw! |

| | | Re: Diving beetle cropped or uncropped I will be awkward and like them both with a slight bias towards the second!
The first is good as it shows the environment, but knowing its a beetle usually found underwater I prefer the second as the water surface is a little dominant in the frame.
