| | | Website Name Advice Hi,I am hoping to set up a website using Zenfolio in the new year, apparently you can use your own domain name. Can anyone advise me on what would be good things to include in the name.ie .uk /.com, wildlife photographer, wildlife photography ? Something that people can remember easily if they need to search for your site, and something that shows up fairly quickly on a google search would be good.Any and all advice most welcome. |

| | | Re: Website Name Advice I think you've got the most important thing - keep it simple so people can remember it! Get it to include 'photo' or 'nature' but you'll probably find the best names have gone!
For the suffix it depends rather on your target market - unless you're showing truly international stuff then you're better off using .uk or .eu so that browsers will know what to expect.
.com is probably best avoided unless you're aiming for big business (mostly for the USA anyway). .org is neater in my view -but the choice is yours! |

| | | Re: Website Name Advice Always a tricky decision!
In the end I decided on a website title first and then decided on a domain name to go with it.
I chose a .co.uk as my images are taken in the UK.

| | | Re: Website Name Advice If you can get a keyword that you want to be found for in the domain name that will give you a headstart on google but may not be appropriate in a few years time.Having non keyword related domain names will take more work to get higher up google but may be better longterm.Stick with a co.uk unless you want to go international etc. When buying the domain get all the variants ie .com and .co.uk anyway and redirect the .com to your .uk site. This means you wont lose any visitors putting in the wrong address.
Ukreg is cheap for domains, i have used them for several years without a hitch.
How about your name and photography.co.uk as a starting point ? If you go on ukreg you can see whats available and alternatives.
Goodluck finding one, not as many around these days. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
