| | | First Attempts at Birds in Flight Hello all,
Managed to get some photo's of Gulls in flight, not sure what they are but may be
Lesser Black Backed, and our dog.
Please give some comments good or bad, I know they may be a little out of focus.
Cheers

Nice shots. Looks like Kitiwake to me. Your neck of the woods has always been great for these, especially St Ann's Head. |

Re Gull,
Blurred photo of one on a nest.
Dog is a Border Collie Cross, not sure with what? too small to be crossed with a lab.
we think some sort of terrier.
Cheers

| | | Re: First Attempts at Birds in Flight the shot of your dog is very nice Les, it captures the movement very nicely. The in-flight shots are slightly out of focus as you say, but are not a million miles away. A bit more practice with panning (and keep your shutter speed up) and you'll soon get there.

Matt | Thanks Matt,
I found it a bit difficult panning, also using a 300mm zoom, worrying about camera Shake, and the exposure, To avoid camera shake using a 300mm lens in less than perfect conditions hand held.
What range of shutter speed should I use
Also, how do I find out about the WAB Groups , feel I should give something back for all the help received here.
Cheers

| | | Re: First Attempts at Birds in Flight If you keep the shutter speed over 1/300 or so you should be OK.
I don't know much about the different WAB groups I'm afraid, or if any of them are active.
