| | | Re: First Attempts at Birds in Flight sorry folks I like the original dog pic, I like the way the dog is lit the 'hazyness' adds to the atmoshpere and the wonky horizon I think adds to the movement of the picture.
but then I am slightly odd
Oh and the gull on the nest is still a fulmar and ummm well we don't tend to do bids on nests shots here for fear of encouraging disturbance to other nesting birds (not that you appear to be disturbing anything here - god the last bird you'd want to disturb at the nest is a fulmar!!! Stinky!!) |

I like the original, but I posted it for comments, as I have just gone down the DSLR route,
and still getting used to it.
Also I am playing with PSE4 and looking for assistance with techniques.
With regards to the Fulmar I agree with you re nests but it was about 50foot up a cliff face
and I was at the bottom.
I posted other photos of Fulmars in flight, as this was my first attempt at capturing Flying Birds and action shots.
Cheers

| | | Re: First Attempts at Birds in Flight Yep, I love the original, as I said in an earlier post. All the odds and ends I did was simply to show what you could do if you wanted to! That's the beauty of Digital images and computers, the original is still there in all it's glory! |

But if you are shooting for personal pleasure just about anything goes (although the really artistic interpretations are better put on deviant art than the wab galleries )
One thing I would say about artistic interpretation is that imo if you are going to tilt the horizon for example do it dramatically , doing it just a little bit looks like you did it by accident and an artistic explanation might be viewed as an excuse.

| | | Re: First Attempts at Birds in Flight New photo,
Please comment, really want feedback re sharpness and focus etc, any improvement.
Taken today 16.02 light not to good F/L 76mm F5 1/320 ISO 800,partial metering.
To me as at 800 there seems to be noise, not done anything apart from crop and add a little
unsharp mask.
Cheers

But if you are shooting for personal pleasure just about anything goes (although the really artistic interpretations are better put on deviant art than the wab galleries ) | I think there's probably publishing routes for both the traditional style of photography as you describe, and those that are a little different. As the success of sites like deviant Art show there is clearly an appreciation and market for both | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
