I only deleted the blurred ones, some of the other ISO settings, are darker.
The two dogs are ours the one at the back is 15yr old.
Will try again to get some bird photos, prob not tomorrow, her indoors wants to go shopping.

Cheers | not a bad shot at all les - you might have benefitted from pulling the zoom back a bit and composing to give them some space on the left to "run" into. about a third of the frame would be ideal - also try getting down to their level as composition is much more powerful at eye level than looking down on the subject - I often take a bin liner or something to lay on. (this goes for any animal not just doggies)

Roger | For me I realised that with the 150 hand holding would not be an option so the 105 was the only option. A trouble with almost all of the affordable zoom lenses is the small maximum apatures available, I sadly mis the 1.4 and 2.8 apatures available with the old prime lenses. Admittingly DOF is a problem at wide apatures but of course the other feature of the old cameras was the easy means of obtaining a DOF preview to rapidly establish a suitable apature to obtain the right DOF. |

I think in this instance i would have moved to the left so that they were running more towards me and got down to their eye level.
alternatively you could have got lower in your position and focussed just on the front dog
another possibilty would be to use a slower speed and pan with them as they ran past you which would blur the background but keep them sharpish - if you tried this your focus point wants to be on the front dogs eye.
dogs are great for practice as they are more likely to do what you want than less cooperative animals , so i would reccomend that you keep trying different stuff out and see what you like - a big benefit of digital being that it wont cost you owt
feel free to pm me if you want any one to one advice
