Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and pretty new to photography too. I'm still trying to find my feet but I was pretty pleased with this pic. it was taken on a Fujifilm S5700. I was pleased with the outcome, especially the flecks of what I presume are pollen?



Happy to hear any pointers/feedback if you guys have a minute.

I've had a look through the Gallery and there are some pretty amazing photgraphs on here, very inspirational!


One question. I posted this image in the Gallery under critique. I cannot find it after revisiting the forum

Great start! Lots of really good macro shooters on here who I'm sure will be able to give a good critique and guidance I'm sure.

The only thing I would say is the background is a bit distracting, probably a house? Keep an eye on whats behind you're shooting. Different camera angle or placing something out of focus and behind the subject would work wonders an give a more polished, less distracting final image.

It's a great shot, just giving an honest constructive critique. Well done!

Thanks for the feedback Momji1971 and great tip on the background too. It's easy to get caught up on the subject and forget about what supports it in the frame so I will remember that! Cheers.

Personally I rather like the houses in the background - it makes a pretty good environmental statement! Sort of bee surviving (??) in conjunction with man - or not if you're a glass half empty person or environmentalist in the know

I also like the shallow DOF.
