| | | Re: Advice on todays pics Hi Joe,
Have a look through the 'Members Gallery' and get some idea regarding 'composition', 'image size','sharpness/clarity' etc and also note any details given regarding equipment used and camera settings where given.
We all had to start somewhere and in many cases we are still learning. In photography there is always room for improvement.
Read you camera instruction booklet and any other related material. It all takes time. Practice and be patient.

Whats the disadvantage of having the lense wide open over say F8?
Dan, you are totally right lol. I hadnt even paid any attention to that reed before you mentioned it. Sure will take more notice next time when setting the shot up.
Cheers
Joe | A lens is rarely at its best when wide open. Usually the cheaper the lens, the poorer the images. By closing down the aperture you usually have a sharper clearer image. I tend to try and use F8 as a starting point, but I will go further to F10 if there's plenty of light. This applies mainly for the types of shots you've got here i.e. birds. Other settings will be best for other subjects, such as close ups.
As I said, it also restricts the Depth Of Field, the amount of the subject in focus.
I can only tell you what I do and I can't remember the last time I used Shutter priority! |

If theres one thing I always think when it comes to photographs if you like them its ok and if anybody else likes them its a bonus.Photography like all hobbies should be enjoyed so go and have fun. |
