Help finding the truth

I need your help folks

I am trying to find the origin of a photo which someone in an online fun photo competition is claiming is theirs.

Taken in the nature gardens in Wales a couple of years ago. Sad fact is, they are getting rather irate about it and I don't want to call them a liar if I'm wrong.

This is the most believable reference i have found on the net.

I'm an Admin to the site hosting this fun competition so I want to be fair.

Would appreciate any help given.

Perhaps you could ask them to send you a copy of the picture with the exif data intact.

Tried that twice and they have ignored the request.

Trying to keep this a private message matter rather then discuss it on the site as they are going to feel silly if they have uploaded their screen saver by accident. And if we are wrong, well then hands up we're wrong (4 Admins) and a serious copywrite lesson has been learned by all as this image is all over the internet.

I recognised it immediately. It came with Windows Vista - in Documents/Pictures/Sample Pictures. I think I had it as my desktop for a week or two.

Yes Dutchess is right. I have Vista and its the first in the Public pictures Gallery, dates 5/11/2005, Tags landscape, samples, and Maple leaves in Autumn as the description.
And clicking on properties shows authors name as Peter Miller.

Thank you very much. I can't image Window's would risk pinching a photograph from someone with out notify the photographer first.
