| | | Bushy Park: Deer! Hello!
Been a member for awhile but haven't posted any phohtos as most of my photography is about captive wildlife. It sucks not having the ability to drive Would love to go to wilder areas in UK
Anyways, I am able to get to Bushy park by rail, and since it's deer season, woo!
I woke up rather late (6.30am) and only got to the park about 8.30am.
D300, 300/4 AF-S, TC14EII, SB600, Flash Extender
D300, 70-200VR, SB600
I vow to be there earlier in the following weeks
btw, do the bucks tend to be tired out at about 11am? I observed a fair few of them lying down when noontime came around.

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! Great photos - I love the 'resting' deer. Have made a note of this as I can get to Bushy on the train. For me too, most places are 'you can't get there from here'

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! Thanks loripo!
I usually get off at Teddington station, it's about a 10-15 minute walk from there to the main gates. The deer can be found all over the place, the last two times I've been there. Richmond also has loads of deer.
Are you only interested in free roaming wildlife? I do alot of "wildlife" photography in conservation/wildlife parks in and around london. For example, the British Wildlife Center is just a 10 minute taxi ride from Lingfield railway in Surrey, and that place has pretty good backgrounds, do check out my webblog on my profile
Cheers!

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! Lovely photos Alvin and well done on getting up and off to see the wonderful deer. Last year one of the Wabbers caught a train from London to Brockenhurst in the New Forest and walked to the place where you can watch the deer rut so maybe you could do that as well if you wanted to see the deer in the forest

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! i might clone out the flash reflection in the eye of the standing one. it makes it look like its possessed! (or i suppose you could edit the image to play up that theme! might make a really interesting shot)

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! My favouite is the second one. The colours are lovely and I think all in all it's the better picture in both composition and the fact it's that little bit different to the usual 'posing' stag!
It must be hard work strutting your stuff all the time

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! PS -
I forgot to say that I like the little leaf stuck on the end of his antler.
Could this be the stag equivalent of a white flag of temporary truce ????

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! Hello everyone! Thanks for the support I'll be making another trip down this weekend, hopefully I *will* wake up on time - no farewell parties tomorrow
big bill: May I know what hills you refer too?
Linda: I'd really love to visit the new forest, however the train times seems a little too prohibitive for me, at least to get there for day break Will try next year if I get a licence and rent a car
squishy: Never thought about that, yes, perhaps I should Lazy to load up gimp though
acherontia: Hey I didn't catch that leaf! Good eye! I saw on the gates that they are having a deer cull right now, hope this big buck doesn't get the chop
Cheers!

| | | Re: Bushy Park: Deer! Got up at 5am yesterday, and managed to get to bushy park at about 7am, just as the sky was getting light. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast the whole day and I only had a small window where the sun broke through the clouds. Else it was pretty meh light. Didn't see any other photographers carrying big guns either? Is the season over? Or did everyone move over to Richmond?
I'd to leopard crawl to get my way into the midst of the deer without spooking them away Back hurts like mad now
