| | | Re: telephoto lens? thats not a DSLR, so your only option for that is a screw on lens for the front, most of which aren't particularly good quality.
there have been several thread like this (including a few of my own ) and the general consensus is that you will struggle to take good photos of distant subjects without spending a lot more on a DSLR and long lens (and by 'a lot more' i'm talking into the thousands).

| | | Re: telephoto lens? Thank you Squishy, Lancashire Lad for advice. Unfortunately my pension doesnt run to "thousands" so will have to stick with what I have. Just to show my total ignorance I presume DSLR is Digital Single Lens something or other? If mine is not that, what is it can you tell me? I have delved thru some number of posts and it seems that a Oly 1.7 is recommended. I will search the net to see if it will fit my camera. Thanks again. |

| | | Re: telephoto lens? DSLR - Digital Single Lens Reflex. Your camera is one of the ones referred to as a bridge camera, or superzoom. They generally work mostly the same as compact cameras, but they are often more focussed on image quality, rather than compact-ness, and usually have longer lenses than most compacts. I use a similar camera to yours, the fuji S9600.
It is most certainly possible to take excellent photos on a budget, but distant subjects seem to be one of the areas were for good quality you really do have to spend
