| | | PMG's challange Got an idea for a shoot from Pauline (PMG) last night. Whilst the birding is a bit slow go after Dragonflys.
Really good practice for focusing! Got only a few keepers from tons of shots. But great fun. Thanks P.
regards.

Had a right laugh with them. These things just wont stay still for a second!
Until the camera is turned off resting on the floor! Then it decides it's gonna hover about two feet from my head!
GET ME SOME BIRDS!!!!!!

| | | Re: PMG's challange .......and where have I been all day - in the house Nah seriously - great shot Stu - did you use flash? If you can get them flying with the background a good distance away then flash may just about stop the wing beats ..... just? Glad you got some - it was dead as a doornail at Middleton on our days off - a wasted trip - but you can't win em all!!

| | | Re: PMG's challange Hey Pauline,
Thanks for the idea we both had great fun chasing them around.
Did use the flash to try to get extra DOF. Started of at 5.6, just about got the head in focus!
Give me a great egret any day!
Keep well,

| | | Re: PMG's challange thanks Ron,
Found my key to success was to manual focus quickly and roughly then a quick dab on the autofocus.
I only kept five out of 49 shots!
cheers.
Stu.
p.s. any else have any advice on shooting these wee beasties? |

| | | Re: PMG's challange I often spend an hour at lunchtime playing this game. Of course it's easier when there are two of them
Start at a distance...
Or if that's too tricky, then the vertical hover is always worth trying...
And if all else fails, wait until they get on their motorcycle... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
