| | | Flower phot comments and advice please I've had the following photo rejected for entry to the Gallery, and I'm guessing it's because not enough of it is in focus. Any comments and advice would be appreciated. Thanks
PS I did have another one accepted, so I'm not too disheartened. |

| | | Re: Flower phot comments and advice please Hi Jonners,
I've had the same experience, and it's slightly frustrating not knowing the exact reason for rejection. (It turned out to be a more rigid application of WAB's ruling on the appearance of copyright/name on images, which, in my case, needed to be made slightly smaller).
If you are satisfied that the image complied in terms of filesize, pixel dimensions and correct Latin & Common names, then maybe depth of focus was the sticking point
As I generally concentrate on flower/macro photography myself, I appreciate exactly the problems you will have had with this subject. Short of going down the image stacking route, there's not much you could have done to get round it.
Possibly shooting from slightly further away, and then cropping more would have given a little more DOF, but heavier cropping brings other problems into play. - No easy solution
Regards,
Mike.

| | | Re: Flower phot comments and advice please Thats a great photo! It should have been accepted really. I think it depends on how many you uploaded of the same subject. The limit is 3 per day.
For example if I went out and photoed the Ladys Slipper today, I would only be able to upload 3. |

| | | Re: Flower phot comments and advice please Thanks Mike and KT. I only uploaded one other, but am aware that DoF was a bit problematic on parts of the flower. Appreciate your comments and advice though. Cheers |

| | | Re: Flower phot comments and advice please Are you sure it was the photo that was rejected, maybe it was the labelling- there's a post knocking around titled 'free to a good home' that points out faults in labelling as being a reason to reject photos.
I'm impressed by your piccie anyway, I've tried to take a good photo of a Lizard orchid near me but it's near a clifftop so the wind blows it around too much |

| | | Re: Flower phot comments and advice please The other one that was accepted is here:
Both had the same labelling, as I copied and pasted, and both were the same dimensions. I'm happy to have one in the Gallery, but was just wondering whether anyone had an idea why the rejected one was rejected. My guess is depth of field maybe.
Anyway, I hope you find a calm day metalfish, so you can maybe grab a pic on the clifftop | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
