| | Canon 40D error message I have a 2X AF convertor which I use with my Canon eos 40D, and it works fine with my automatic lenses, however when I connect a manual lens I get error message 01 can`t find connection, is there anyway that I can overcome this problem ?.
Any help would be appreciated. |

| | | Re: Canon 40D error message Presumably you don't get the message without the TC? Is this just one manual lens or a number of manual lenses? Might just be a dirty contact on the lens if a single manual lens (and camera's trying to establish whether AF/exposure setting is needed) |

| | | Re: Canon 40D error message Error 1, I believe is when the camera can't recognise the lens attached to it. If you're using an old lens, it may be that it's not compatible with your camera. I think there are ways around the problem using sticky tape over the appropriate contacts, but I don't know how and I would definately seek further advice before you tried anything like that!
Good luck |

| | | Re: Canon 40D error message Thanks for trying, in answer to your question Markulous, the Tele covertor works with my 70-300 mm canon Do lens, but not with my 17-85mm canon lens nor my sigma mirror lens, the latter has no electrical contacts and is a manual focus only. |

| | | Re: Canon 40D error message Sounds like a TC fault then - something's throwing the 40D which should be capable of taking any kind of manual lens
The taping thing I've only ever seen used on the Canon 100-400mm which allows AF to work if you attach a Canon 1.4xTC (Canon prevent to protect the AF motor which can hunt @ f/8) | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
