Macro with Canon G10

Took this this morning to see what the Macro mode was like on my new Canon G10. Not too bad considering the bad light I had.

You should be able to get some reasonable macro images with that camera. I went digital about 6 years ago with a secondhand G2 which I bought for £350 which was half price in those days! And the modern versions are a lot better.

I found the main things to take into account are: avoid full auto setting; use spot metering; check for sufficient depth of field, and use Av mode if possible, say F8 but beware of excessive ISO. And try to use a tripod or monopod, even one of the cheap lightweight models will help considerably.
