That's going to be a very difficult combination to keep steady, especially with the winds on the clifftops there. I think you should be able to get reasonable shots at 500mm, but maybe still need to crop down a little. |

| | | Re: final bempton (sorry) Fantastic images Richard. Love the Fulmar shot. I know how difficult those things are the capture. Thats ace!
Really love them. Jealous of that Puffin though. We didn't really get to see them!
Well done.

| | | Re: final bempton (sorry) Cheers Stu, just trying to work out how to fit another trip into the next few weeks, maybe I should organise a Bempton meet..
If it's Puffins you want mate, you need to get that trip to the Farnes organised, almost need a WA lens to shoot them there... |

| | | Re: final bempton (sorry) Thanks for that Richard! So jealous. Next year definately gonna get to the Farnes!
We're pretty much booked now for long trips this year. Off to Scilly on the 20th for some photography. And as a 'while we're there we might as well thing' we're getting married!
Unless Gill reads this then it's the other way around!!!!!
Anyways, more shots Richard! Really inspires me to get out there, seeing other peoples work. Great shots!
regards.

Yep, convinced. What time of year did you go? Did you go with an organised trip or on your own?
Thanks for all the info Richard. And if I came away from the Farnes with an image like that I'd be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy!
have fun.

| | | Re: final bempton (sorry) EXIF says I took that one on 17th July. Past the height of the breeding season and it's just the way it worked out for us, but I think maybe that's better for photography. When there are literally thousands of birds crammed onto the pinnacles, it doesn't give you many options. Once they start to thin out a bit you can isolate single birds and watch their behaviour. There was still lots of activity though.
We're up there again this year in the last week of July, so will probably take a day trip again, will let you know how it goes. We went with Billy Shiels out of Seahouses. The full day trip last 5-6 hours with landings on Staple for the Puffins and then Inner Farne for the Terns. £25 for the boat and £5 landing fee, if you're not a National Trust member. Absolute bargain, if you ask me | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
