WOW! First time to Bempton and what a place! Few Puffins but the Gannets more than made up for it.

Must have taken 500 images over the three days. Already booked to go back in July

Great shots Stu.

I have a week off at the end of May and am planning a trip to the Farne Islands and a detour to Bempton on my way home. If I get shots half as good as yours I'll be pleased.

Mind if I ask what lens you were using? What I really want to know is will 400mm be enough?

Hi Dave,

At Bempton 400mm will be plenty. I used a 500mm but on many occasions the birds were too close! Have fun and post your pics!

Farne Islands next year for us I think. Interested to hear how you get on, drop me a pm when you get back!

Some great shots there Stu The Gannets at Bempton give great photo opportunities.

Dave you should be fine with a 400mm lens. The birds are close enough to get great images with a 400mm.

I'm also going to the Farne Islands, but in June with Photographers on Safari. They recommend that you also take a 28-70 mm or similar and that a filter should be fitted to protect the lens.

I'll be taking my 400mm as well.

Excellent shots Stu.

I almost went to Bempton last week, but I thought it was a bit early. Having seen these I wish now I had gone, especially with the weather we've going to get this week.
