Bigma turned up a couple of hours ago, god it's huge
Right now it's set up in my living room on a tripod because it's pouring down with rain in Kent it was that hot here yesterday we sat and ate our evening meal in the garden
I got the lens off ebay for the sum of £530.00, obviously this was bought blind/unseen. Is there anything I should check before I leave the seller feedback?
I was a little disappointed on first inspection, I'm the type of guy that looks after everything, everything's kept clean and if I sell something it'll be in near perfect condition. This lens has some paint loss on the foot of the tripod mount [not underside but on top?], a few marks on the hood and the lens cap is really scratched up, guess it must be stood on this.
Everything seems superficial and the lens focus's smoothly, I did notice a slight tightness when rotating the zoom between the 100mm-300mm mark but that's about it.
The only major concern is a few specks of dust visable looking down into the lens, is this an issue?

Can't wait for the sunshine to come out now | A small amount of dust is unlikely to cause you any problems. I have cleaned my Bigma and others by removing the front lens element, but it was more just to see if it could be done rather than a real need. It's surprising how tolerant lenses are to dust or marks on the outer glass.
If the focus works smoothly, that's the most important part.
Good luck with it. It sounds like you've got a decent enough one. The finish coming off is very common, my Bigma looks a real mess even though I've always treated it with kid gloves.
That's good news re the card. |

Dear Brian,
Thank you for contacting Nikon regarding your D80 camera.
From the sample pictures you have helpfully submitted this very much looks like an issue with a faulty or unapproved memory card, especially that it is only intermittent. Please try the following steps and see if the issue persists after each one of them:
1. Format the memory card in the camera (see your D80 Manual page 102).
2. Ensure the card you are using has been approved for use with the D80 as per the chart at the link below:
Answer Title: Approved memory cards for D-SLR cameras
Answer Link: Answer
3. Try with another card approved for the D80.
I have fitted another memory card to try though the one I was using is off their reccomended list, could be a faulty card and I really hope it is.
Will update as soon as I take the next batch of picture's | I am so glad I was wrong

glsammy. I got in touch with the seller [djimages] who told me all his long lenes had a few specks of dust visable and this is probably caused by the vacuum created while using the lens, he also added that it was so far from the processor that it's unlightly to cause any issue's.
In all honesty, I pannicked over 3 specks of dust, I just didn't think there should be any in there.
Lens takes great pic's
nightshade, I to am extremely happy, delighted even that you were wrong on this occasion [better for me ]
charlieb, I'd never have guessed it was something so simple as a memory card, the card was off their reccommended list and new. Not had any problems since and this was happening at least once in every 20 shots
Thanks for your contributions everyone

| | | Re: Problems with my D80 Just seen this thread.
I used to have a Nikon D80 (so pleased with it that I upgraded to D300) and experienced exactly the same problem due to a faulty memory card. It was quite easy for me to pin problem on the card as I had several cards and only saw the corrupt images when using one particular card. I scrapped the card and never had the problem again.
