| | My new camera I've just bought a new camera gone from a Kodak z650 to a Nikon D40 which looks much more complicated!!
Anyone else got a D40?
Are they any good?
Only have the standard lens (18-55mm) should i need a bigger one or will this be good enough for wildlife pics?
I can wait untill the weekend to have play and hopefully got some spoonbill shots .

| | | Re: My new camera Nice camera and the lens is fine for landscape and portraits but you will definitely need a longer lens for wildlife shots and expect to pay much more for a good quality lens than you did for the camera. Have fun

| | | Re: My new camera Hi Sandymere. I have a Nikon D40x so has my hubby. I use a 200mm lens & he has a 300mm. He can obviously get closer up than me I`ve had mine a year & still use it on auto I`ve not been brave enough to venture yet
You`ll get some lovely photos, have fun. Welcome to Wab by the way.
Pam

| | | Re: My new camera I recently moved up from the Z650 because the bird photos were just awful and there was too much noise produced on cloudy days (most of summer )
I got a Nikon D60 which is like a more compact version of the D40 and got the same lens as you and also the 55-200mm. The macro mode with the 18-55 isn't really as good as my Kodak so I'll take out both when going for flowers etc. |
