Graham verity IS the spice of life , I cannot remember ever sticking to one thing ever with the camera to me that's the whole beauty of photography today wildlife, tomorrow landscape, day after industrial scenes the camera is a passport to any where you want to wonder.
I used to shoot events commercially in the days when we all used film covered equestrian events for clubs, magazines etc And to be honest I had 1000's of images of horses or horses and riders got really sick of it it became a chore, my images were great and improved over time of course but it was still a chore then a mate invited me over to a motor cross event.
It was like my first day of school where do they come from? Where do they go? Where do they go through the water etc etc etc....... Like a kid with a new bike (excuse the pun ) from there I went to visit Oulton Park racing circuit from there I did bit with weddings and so on.
Today I use cameras for wedding, events, 3D CGI texture gathering, landscapes, wildlife and very recently low level aerial photography. I've gone into video, video editing and digital compositing.
Some may say well Jack of all trades, master of none but I find it keeps you fresh makes you look for that "other angle" and adds to your personal knowledge and learnings of the fine skill of being a photographer.
So I'm all for it Diversify and enjoy and sharpen up your skills if like me most of you will have a range of lenses that go from 17mm all the way to 400mm plus a couple of tele coverters as well you can pretty much turn your hand (or camera ) in any direction.

| | | Re: A change of style badly needed. Well I think they're good Graham, though I think a little editing would 'brighten' them up. I've given one a little go, I hope you don't mind
It's no special editing, but brings it to life a little- Make sure you click to enlarge. |

| | | Re: A change of style badly needed. I wouldn't be displeased with these Graham. They are not the best you are capable of but they aren't rubbish either.
I look forward to seeing some more in the future.

| | | Re: A change of style badly needed. I think you are your own biggest critic Graham, they are fine.
When you are taking bird shots you are looking at feather detail, eye clarity etc, landscapes are totally different.

| | | Re: A change of style badly needed. I am very critical of my shots, always have been. To my eyes I've still to take ONE really top quality shot. Exposed correctly, yes. In focus yes, but nothing with that real killer look.
My main problem with these is that they don't convey what I experienced. The location took my breath away, especially that waterfall, it was awesome! My shots are certain not awesome! Just about snap shot quality. |
