| | | Wing blur does it spoil shots? Its pretty hard to completely freeze the motion of a flying birds wings unless the light allows a real fast shutter speed. Does wing blur detract from the image. I do not like it I like the action frozzen.

| | | Re: Wing blur does it spoil shots? It can be very difficult to eliminate wing blur altogether. your first photograph has a touch to much wing blur for my liking but the second one to my eyes anyway is better.
I think it depends on the subject and the setting. As Ben said it can sometimes give a nice sense of motion.

| | | Re: Wing blur does it spoil shots? I like both. I think it depends on whether you are trying to achieve an illustrative shot or an artistic shot. - Some thing that is excellent or something that is beautiful or if you're really lucky something inbetween. |

| | | Re: Wing blur does it spoil shots? i think it can sometimes work in your favour... if you want a clear shot of the bird, wings blur just gets in the way, but for illustrating the movement... it creates quite a nice effect |

Colin | I think they're fantastic pics, much better than I can do.

| | | Re: Wing blur does it spoil shots? I think it can work, but only if it conveys a sense of directional motion, and not just a blur. I'm not sure it works particularly well in the 2 shots above, but I certainly wouldn't write it off as a technique. There are lots of images that come up in the top wildlife photo competitions that are combinations of frozen action (usually on the eyes) and motion blur, so it definately can work, but I suspect it takes a *lot* of practice to get really effective results.
Hope this makes sense, it's very early in the morning and I'm sat up with a sick dog at the mo so I'm probably not at my most coherent | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
