Nuthatch with or without

Hi all
Took this photograph of a Nuthatch a couple of days ago which I intend using on my website.

I can't decide which looks best. The first photo I have left the small branch under the Nuthatch as it was originally. The second photo I have cloned out the branch. I aren't that keen on removing things from photos as my editing skills are fairly limited in this respect.

Any thoughts on which you good people here prefer would be appreciated

I like the first one, I like the repeated shapes in the angle of the branch and the nuthatch's head, I dont think it detracts from the photograph and actually I decided I liked that one first before I even read your post or even noticed it was the branch that was missing!

but then I am often the odd one out in opinions about photographs so you might not want to listen to me

Personally I don't think the branch is a problem at all. It's in focus and as Gill said the angle is quite pleasing to the eye.
I got an almost identical shots as this Roger, but it wasn't a patch on yours, the detail was nowhere near as good.

Many thanks Gill. I can definitely see where you are coming from on the repeated shapes thing and it's something I hadn't even considered or seen until you pointed it out.

I prefer the one without the branch, as I think the branch distracts one from the subject.

I too thought about the repeated shape and just about accepted that it was ok whilst thinking if it had been mine I would have cloned it out - it leads the eye away too much from the main focus of the bird - so for me even tho I can see the pattern of it being there - I actually prefer without and staring straight at that fantastic bird!

wow! what fantastic detail! thats fantastically seemless editing as well... erm... i quite like it with out the branch, but there is something there, the way its parallel to the nuthatch, does make for a great effect... i cant decide
