| | | Goldfinch critique Hi all,
Took this one yesterday in overcast conditions in my garden.
Like to know what people think - the background especially i'm unsure about.
D300, Sigma 50-500, 1.4 TC, flash, tripod and remote release and was under my bag hide
Thanks for any advice.

| | | Re: Goldfinch critique It's a very good shot, but I'd crop it a bit tighter (certainly above the head) and adjust the levels in Photoshop to bring the eye out a bit. Mind you, the monitor I'm using at the moment isn't calibrated, so that might make a difference.
The background's fine.

| | | Re: Goldfinch critique It looks spot on to me. As for the background, I wish I could get such a clean one with my bird shots! |

I'd still crop it though!

| | | Re: Goldfinch critique Nothing wrong with that Toby. Colours are spot on as is focus and it's a good background.
As Jim suggested I would probably have cropped a bit tighter but that's only my preference and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it as it is.

| | | Re: Goldfinch critique Agree with Jim, that cropping slightly tighter above the head would enhance the pic.
Also, if I were being super critical, I'd be tempted to clone out the darker parts of the out of focus background just behind the bird. I'm finding that my eyes are drawn to the out of focus shapes - (on the full size image).
Other than that It's a fantastic shot and one I'd certainly be proud of.
Regards
