| | | New Printer required Hi All
Bit of assistance needed.
I think my poor old Canon printer has finally given up the ghost, and I need to buy a new one.
Problem is I am a bit out of touch with all the new ones on the market.
Anyone got any suggestions of a good one.
Don’t mind spending up to about £ 300 - £350 on a new one, if needed, after all it’s going to be doing a lot of photo printing for me hopefully over the next few years.
It must also be able to print up to A4 size.
Any help would be great
Thanks all
Mick

It gives great results and has the added bonus of printing direct onto CD/DVD,it use the 6 ink system

I wouldn't use any thing else and I agree with BB I always use compatibles. I haven't a dedicated photo printer and my EpsonCX3200 is years old now and still going strong, but if it eventually goes It will be an Epson I will get everytime |

| | | Re: New Printer required I had 2 Epson printers (last one was the R800) and I found both suffered from frequent ink clogs. Neither one lasted more than 2 years of light use.
Now I use a Canon 9000 which has worked well (looking for something wooden to touch) but it is A3 size and a bit more expensive.
Do you want a specific photo printer or a general purpose printer that also prints photos? It might be worth a look at Viking Direct for ideas. Also check out the Canon (Europe) web site for new models.
As Big Bill said, check the price of replacement ink cartridges before buying. Individual colour cartridges are initially expensive but work out cheaper in the long run. With multiple colours you always throw away a lot of ink as they stop printing when the the most used colour has run out but the others might still be half full. Individual colours often have 6 or 7 colours which improves quality.
A google of Canon/Epson printers will produce a lot of information. |

I use HP printers as the printer head is in the cartridge and never clogs.
For the money you have available why not buy an A3 printer.

| | | Re: New Printer required I've also always had Epson. I've got a Photo 830 and a more recent Photo RX685. I've never bought the original ink and on the RX685 I've fitted a continual inking system which reduces printing cost dramatically. I can't see me having to buy any new ink for years!
I've had the odd cartridge fail in the 830, but as they're so cheap it doesn't bother me.
I can thoroughly recommend the RX685. Or whatever the latest variation now is. It's a multifunction device with built in scanner. So far it's worked perfectly. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
