| | | Focal point opinions Hello all
I would like to ask you all which of the following two pictures you like best.
Which is the better photo?
I am interested in your opinions as I can't decide. |

| | | Re: Focal point opinions I prefer the second photo. The foreground in the the first isn't as interesting as the background.
Where was it taken, it looks like a nice place

Found this stone carving and it took me a few minutes before I realised that it mirrored the sky line. |

| | | Re: Focal point opinions Hi
I am certainly not an expert but just a personal opinion my first thought was that I liked the second but without the 'piece of wood' at all as lovely scene but then read rest of thread and can see that the sculpture has a significance but must admit that the only way I think possibly you could make that more evident would be to have maybe taken it from a lower angle so the sculpture was higher up against the skyline? Dont know if it would have worked though but maybe.
Lovely place and interesting

| | | Re: Focal point opinions The second, but like monkey I think there's too much space between the sculpture and the skyline for the viewer to make a connection. |

| | | Re: Focal point opinions Hi twitch,
The second one looks better to me. You could have used a smaller aperture setting to help fetch the carving into focus. Fill in flash would help the exposure equal out .
Maybe kneeling down and getting a lower view point would help to emphasize the mirror effect of the carving and the background.

| | | Re: Focal point opinions Thanks folks, I see your point about there being to much space between the carving and the sky line. I think that is what was my dilemma between the two shots I wanted both to stand out. When I visit Harwick again I think I may have to do a bit of laying down in fields. |
