| | | Comma for comments! The apples have fallen from my tree this year, and the butterflies are loving them. Managed to photograph this comma the other day. I quite liked the pic. Hadn't realised they had such amazing colours on them. |

Originally Posted by Tormentil Very nice shot, but I think I would turn it 90 degrees anti-clockwise. | I must admit I usually try and avoid getting the wings running either straight up or straight across, I'd try for a sort of 45 degree angle or thereabouts and I always try to give the subject some space to look into or move into so perhaps less centrally placed. Having said all that I would still have been pleased to take this shot.

| | | Re: Comma for comments! Butterflies photographed 'head up' can sometimes look like a dead sample stuck to a pin, but I think you have enough contrast and shadow there to get away with it.
Alternatively, if you have a bit of spare edge space with the original you can rotate it to any pleasing angle (Custom Rotation) then crop to size, that is the advantage of digital. |
