| | | Greenbottle for Critique Hi. Took this with my new £99 camera the other day. Just thought I'd get your comments on it. |

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique Excellent composition of the flower. I like the angle a lot, with the bud fading in the foreground, and similar behind the main flower head. The central area is nice and sharp. Intersting use of colour too, just picking out the centre. It works really well. |

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique Yes - I like it, especially the way you've picked out the colours in the centre. Lovely!
PS Are you two related?

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique Nice picture - I think I would have tried to simplify it by getting rid of the two out of focus heads and cropping slightly more tightly - I'm not sure it would have worked any better but I often take a first shot and then try and improve on it providing the subject remains in place of course. Very interesting and effective use of colour - how did you do that?

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique Thanks for all your comments.
The effect was produced with an option you can use in Picassa. Very simple as long as the main area you want to keep in "colour" is in the centre.
Here is another crop:
Cheers. Jane

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique Nice pic jane well done nice and clear and the selective colouring of the main image is spot on only gripe I think it could have done with a touch of unsharp mask as the central part especially the Blue bottle is slightly soft otherwise cracking shot

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique Like the second one Jane. The tighter crop places a little more emphasis on the fly which has some nice detail. Well done

| | | Re: Greenbottle for Critique I wouldn't try to choose between the 2 images. It's that 'apples & pears' debate again.
The first photo is of a flower which has a greenbottle for added interest while the second is a close up of a greenbottle with a pleasing flower background.
They are both good so I would file one under 'Flowers' and the other under "Animals'.
Photographing a dark subject on a white background is never easy. |
