With thanks Mark. | There are several very good 'web sites' that explain in detail how to calibrate monitors and printers. Type into GOOGLE or similar 'Calibrating Printers' and lots good information will be at hand.

| | | Re: How do I Calibrate my Printer ? Thanks,I am using windows XP,I seem to be getting a green cast / tint on my prints.I assume this is more down to my printer than my monitor ? I tried looking on line for solutions, but most info was a bit above me to be honest,I am not all that clever with computers. |

| | | Re: How do I Calibrate my Printer ? Totally agree with John's comments about ink and paper. Third party ink and cheap paper are fine for text but can cause colour problems with photos. Even some of the higher cost papers can produce off colours with the wrong printer settings.
First check that you have installed the correct printer driver. Then check that your monitor is roughly colour correct. As a very approximate guide see if your colour adjustments are all set to around 50% and the monitor image colour matches the in camera image. You can spend a lot of money on monitor calibration equipment, but don't bother yet. I borrowed a monitor recently, which had been discarded because the colours were wrong, and all it needed was very simple approximate colour resetting.
Check that the printing settings match the paper and image quality. If in doubt use the glossy paper and best quality settings. As it is an Epson printer try Epson Premium paper; not cheap, but good average quality.
Also, check the photo resolution (pixels per inch) with your editing software. If you are trying to print glossy paper with too low a resolution, say 72ppi that can cause problems. 300 ppi is recommended although less usually works OK, but not less than 150 for high quality paper.
Finally, and try this solution first of all, do you have a clogged ink jet nozzle? Somewhere in your printer menu you will have a nozzle test setting. Run this and clean the nozzles if there is a problem. Sounds complicated, but easy in reality.
If necessary, come back here and ask for more information. I feel sure that somebody will be able to sort everything out for you. |
