| | | Budding amateur (ex novice) About time i offered a few more with some experimental or ambitious shots thrown in
first a bullfinch
Then this whitethroat
Then a jay from a bit too far away but sat up nicely
This mistle thrush returning to the nest
Reed warbler
Now for the experimental ones tried to get one of a house martin taking a dip
Blue tailed damselfly flight shot
Then a couple of ones that failed to fly quick enough
Enjoy and any help with the damselfly and spider shots would be useful
thanks

| | | Re: Budding amateur (ex novice) Spider is a Tetragnatha sp. Should have a web that is almost horizontal and has an unimpeded hole in the centre, they quite like to dodge one side of the web to the other.
Like your photos, esp the Bullfinch having just got my best sighting yet. |

| | | Re: Budding amateur (ex novice) Some nice shots
I really like the flight shots as they offer something different, particularly the damselfly as it is nice and big in the frame (shame it's flying away, but hey). I also like the Whitethroat and Warbler as they are in nice natural settings. I could only get a Bullfinch on a table scoffing its face too. Nice shot still but I prefer the habitat shots more. Only personal preference of course. If I'm critical I like the spider shots least as they seem a little dark, slightly soft and a bit cluttered with distracting objects around. But what do I know!? Thanks for sharing

| | | Re: Budding amateur (ex novice) Thanks again for the kind comments and the critical ones ,and just to explain the spider shot, when i took the pic at first i thought it was two damselflies mating until i blew them up on the camera and then i tried to get a better shot ,unfortunately the bottom end of the lens is 70mm so i still had to move away from the subject which was buried in the foliage and also on manual focus ,so not the ideal set up for this kind of picture, still i was happy with it (which is what matters anyway) as it is not something i do regularly | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
